Last Monday I met with a new client – a representative of a local university. She was a very cheerful lady but had no marketing background, and was completely in the dark about what promo item to choose. At the top of her list were custom magnets – she wanted refrigerator magnets with her university logo, and she wanted the enrollment and inquiry trunk line imprinted, too.
I could see where she was coming from. Magnets are, after all, among the cheapest promo items, and at roughly $0.56 each, they fall right within her budget. But when I asked her what exactly she wishes to accomplish with these magnets, she answered, to promote ourselves to high school seniors so that they would consider us for college.
Printing materials does not have to be restricted to newsletters, flyers, white papers, books, etc. You can create any number of promo items. Pens seem to be a common one. When you think about it, people often feel the need to borrow a pen: why not give them one with your company name and information on it. And how often have you lent a pen and it was kept by the borrower, without thinking. You want to encourage this, of course.
The point with a promo item from Gallant is that you want to be either remembered or you want to be noticed. In either case a good promo item will help you achieve this. You can strive to be different, but you are more likely to be noticed if you strive to be useful in everyday business life. Look for things that are unique, useful and represent you well.
